Shashwath Sabarish is a dedicated young chess player demonstrating exceptional talent, discipline, and commitment to competitive chess. At just 8 years old, he has already established himself as a rising competitor in Wisconsin’s scholastic chess scene, with consistent performances at state and national tournaments.

Competitive Achievements

Shashwath earned the 2025 WSCF Grade Level Champion title for 1st Grade, representing the top scholastic performance in his grade. He competes regularly in US Chess–rated tournaments and maintains strong rankings within his age group, earning national recognition among top young players (31st in the National Under 7 ranking as of Oct 2025). His rapid rating progression demonstrates both technical skill and tournament experience.

Titles & Recognition

  • Arena FIDE Master: International title awarded by the World Chess Federation 
  • 2025 Wisconsin Scholastic Chess Federation Grade Level Champion (1st Grade) 
  • He has earned the honor of representing the state of Wisconsin in the 2026 GM Maurice Ashley National Tournament of State K–3 Champions, an invitation-only chess event that will take place in Grand Rapids, Michigan
  •  Consistent top placements in state and regional tournaments

Training & Development

Shashwath trains under experienced coaching and follows a disciplined daily study regimen focused on opening theory, tactical mastery, and endgame technique.
