Shashwath Sabarish started competitive chess in 2023 and has played 107+ rated OTB tournaments across Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, and Missouri through March 2026 — a remarkable volume of competitive play for any player his age.
He earned the Arena FIDE Master (AFM) title through his FIDE online arena rating and holds a current USCF rating of 1555 and FIDE rating of 1704. He has played 377 classical games, building a body of experience that few players his age can match.
In 2025, he won the Wisconsin Scholastic Chess Federation 1st Grade Championship, and in 2026 he took back-to-back honors as the WSCF 2nd Grade Champion. He was selected as Wisconsin's representative to the 2026 GM Maurice Ashley National Tournament of State K-3 Champions — one of the most prestigious scholastic chess events in the country.
